What do you think about the 996.1 Market in the coming years (say 5-10)??

I know they are generally unloved, but I’ve always been a fan. 99-01 was when I was really getting into cars as a youngin’ and loved them. I wouldn’t be opposed to getting one.

Pictured: 996 GT3 Mk1. C2 with aerokit would be remarkably similar to this look.

I can’t imagine prices will really go down much at this point. Probably an excellent time to buy.

They will be the last to gain value - they will be be the c3 vette of the 911 group. Not a bad time to buy - but you will have to wait 20-25 years to see any significant appreciation.

I'm not buying to make a profit, I'm looking to make a second twisty road/use as often car out of it. Buying outright I'll be ready in 3-5 years. It's just a debate whether I should get a new DD and put off the purchase or ride my current DD until it dies and save immediately. I feel like if I don't do the latter prices will shoot up when I'm ready to buy and I'll miss the boat.

sounds perfect then - blast around in it for a few years then sell it for the same or better money. And just me personally - I like the headlamps that aren’t circular.

It’s not going to raise values, people will be circle jerking around the air cooled porsches long before the 991s will rise in value

Unfortunately maintenance, repairs, and parts won’t be going down in price, either. But yes....if you want one, they are likely coming to the bottom of the depreciation curve.

The 996 Targa seems to be an interesting buy.

yeah, I think back to 10 years ago before I was married and I was looking at mid-to-late-80's Carerras at high teens to low 20's. I think that ship has sailed. Thing is, if I had gotten one then, I would still have it, probably would never sell it.

I also don’t think you’ll lose money on one of these. You’ll have upkeep on any 911. These would have a relatively low entry fee and you can just get your money back (probably) when you sell.

I imagine 996 prices holding steady, then slightly rising in 5-10 years when they’re all @20 years old. With many 996 carreras in the teens i cant see them dropping anymore.

Buy 996.

Address IMS issue and/or buy Turbo/GT engine or LS-swap.

Convert to 997 nose.

Have 997 looks without having to buy a newer and more-expensive 997 to start modding.
